Amazing Do-It-Yourself Baby Photoshoot Ideas

The arrival of your baby is a joyous occasion for the entire family. You find yourself attempting to photograph every tiny adorable moment. However, your photographs do not appear as appealing as you would like. You’re disappointed and wish you’d hired a professional photographer instead.
Put an end to that thought right now. You can save it for special occasions. Because by the end of this post, you’ll have all the ideas you need to create your own DIY baby photoshoot at home.
All you’ll need is your phone camera and a few odds and ends that you can find around your house. Easy-peasy.
Let’s talk DIY newborn baby photoshoot
First and foremost, the big announcement. As parents, you are excited to tell the world about the birth of your child. However, if you’re planning on updating your social media with a simple (read: boring) photo and text, you should reconsider. After all, these are memories you’ll cherish for a lifetime, so it’s well worth the effort.
The best part is, you don’t need fancy props. Look around your home for simple items that you can use. Here are some ideas:
– A dumbbell or a weighing scale to show your baby’s weight;
– An old toy belonging to the mom or dad of the baby adds that extra sentimental value;
– A measuring tape or scale to show height;
– Wooden baby blocks, bunting, scrabble tiles to spell out the baby’s name;
– Fresh flowers around your newborn baby girl for an extra-feminine vibe;
– An old clock or watch to show the time of birth;
– A calendar to show the date of birth;
– Pick a theme and stick to it. For example, colors, seasons, festivals, sports, floral, etc;
Spread everything out on a lovely blanket, sheet, or carpet. Anything soft that also serves as a pretty background will suffice. Photos from directly above can be accessed by clicking on them.

The Cocoon Wrap
This is one of our favorite at-home infant photoshoot ideas, and it’s also very simple. You’ll need some cloth to wrap your baby in, preferably something stretchy. Start wrapping after tucking the baby’s hands and legs in (or leaving the hands out). For a step-by-step guide, watch this tutorial.
If you can find a cute basket to place your wrapped-up little angel in, that’s fantastic! You can create a variety of shots by experimenting with accessories and positioning the baby’s hands (palms on either side of the cheek, tucked under the chin, etc.). Always go with what your baby seems to be comfortable with.
Don’t give up if your baby cries at first. Continue wrapping while you work through the tears. Babies adore a snug wrap. Soothe your baby gently, and he or she will most likely drift off to sleep quickly.

Baby Basket
Remember that gift basket you got a few years ago, and the lovely basket it came in? You saved it because you knew it would come in handy someday. That day has finally arrived. Look for something similar if you don’t have one. A bread basket, a wooden crate, an old trunk, or even a cardboard box will suffice.
Line it with soft blankets and, if desired, a few soft toys. Fill the basket with more blankets if it is deep enough so that your baby can lie on top. Finally, put your baby in it, and you’re on your way to a very successful DIY baby photoshoot.
Heaven sent
To give your baby an ethereal feel, use soft, fluffy fabrics and flowers. If you don’t already have tiny angel wings, you can make your own with Itsy Bitsy feathers.
A Little Ballerina
A lovely white tutu paired with a diamante headband or a flower headband. Either of these would make a stunning photograph. You can always make your own tutu if you don’t have one.
Go vintage with letterboards
Felt letterboards were popular a few years ago. Bring it out if you still have one lying around and use it for your next shot to announce milestones, funny quotes, and so on.
Bring out the fun headgear
You want to capture all of your baby’s rolls and wrinkles when photographing him or her. As long as they’re not too cold, keep them naked.
Experiment with fun hats for your baby boy and adorable headbands for your baby girl. If you enjoy knitting, making these accessories could be an additional DIY project for you.
With the older siblings
Don’t forget to capture a few heartwarming moments with the older sibling too.

Two babies are the only thing cuter than one. This is a fun idea for a twin baby photoshoot – set up a simple setup at home that can be easily replicated in the future. Take another photo a few years later for a fun ‘then and now photo.
