Offer a Baby Plan
Provide baby planning to clients during pregnancy sessions or gallery tours. This includes neonatal, 3-month, 6 month and 9 month sessions. Try offering expensive items that end the plan when the baby grows up. For example, an album that combines photos from all sessions. You can also add a framed print of each session. Once the baby plan is complete, the customer will see a wall of his gallery of the entire baby plan. We can offer discounts on maternity sessions. Or add items if the customer decides to purchase a baby plan. The idea is that they will come back and buy more photos. But you can also provide them with irreplaceable photos in their first year.
Use Similar Wardrobes for Newborn Photos
Choose outfits that are simple in fit and color. This is useful when filming a client’s neonatal session. You can recreate or match the style of your pregnancy photos. Something like a black top and black pants or jeans for both sessions. Alternatively, bare the belly and outerwear, then use the same outerwear to strip the baby naked during the neonatal session. can look very good as an album. You can include both maternity and newborn photos. Or a wall gallery set with photos from both sessions.

Use Gender-Specific Colours for Wardrobe
One of the most exciting things about being pregnant is finding out the gender of your baby. Have customers wear gender-specific costumes. Blue or yellow for boys, red and pink for girls. This makes the photo more individual. This also helps with gender detection when family and friends view customer photos.
Use Wraps and Textiles
There are wraps made specifically for pregnancy sessions. Several DIY options make this maternity photo shoot easy and inexpensive. Purchase at least two yards of fabric from a fabric store. Let customers choose colors and patterns. Use one meter on top and one on the bottom. For the bodice, twist the fabric in the middle to shape it. Clip or tie the excess at the back. Wrap the buttocks under the abdomen around the client. Pin or tie the back so the excess material runs down the back. This can easily be done in a studio environment or on location.
Photograph the Nursery
This is the case when you have the opportunity to take photos at a client’s home. Take a moment to photograph your baby’s nursery. We encourage you to add these detailed photos to your client’s gallery. It can be very emotional and personal for expectant parents. Take a picture of a customer in a child’s room without poses. Ask about the items they used for decoration. This encourages them to speak on a more personal level. You will be able to capture more natural emotions and facial expressions.
Make the Shoot About the Parents
A growing belly is the main focus of a pregnancy session. But it’s also about future parents. Ask clients to bring props and wardrobes. These should represent their personality. For example, couples who love Disney, couples, and mothers who like motorcycles. They also give expectant parents the opportunity to express their individuality. This makes the pregnancy story even more meaningful and personal.
Use Baby Props
Ask the client to bring the props into the session. Like baby shoes, Kigurumi, and stuffed animals. Everything the couple purchased to give the baby. It’s also very popular to compare the size of growing babies to fruits and vegetables. You can find many charts online that show which fruit is baby-sized in a particular month of pregnancy. You can then take a picture with the fruits and vegetables and the mother’s stomach. Take a photo with your belongings Maybe you can use detailed photos to decorate your child’s room or create a keepsake album.
Include Family Members
It seems like maternity sessions are only for mothers-to-be. it’s not. You may want to include your spouse and siblings as well. Including older children in your pregnancy photos can emphasize that the whole family is looking forward to the birth. Spouses and siblings can do great work in the studio or on location. If you choose the studio setting, have the children bring their toys and activities. This allows them to be entertained while you shoot other poses during the session. Kids will run around and have fun. Siblings can play and leave the shooting area while only the mother is filmed. Receive detailed photos of your spouse or sibling kissing or holding your baby bump. Allow mothers to interact with them in a natural way. For example, kissing or hugging a younger sibling. Hold hands with your spouse or place a smaller sibling on your baby’s bump.
Go High Key or Low Key
Shooting your subject in high-key lighting can add a magical touch to your photos. Your photo has a flood of light. This type of lighting is perfect for studios and locations. In the studio, a large soft light can be used to flood the image and another light in front to evenly illuminate the client. The idea is to have lots of light to create that dreamy effect. Shoot the client with the sun behind them, either at sunrise or at sunset. Now you have the flood of light you need to blow out the background. In other words, it creates a white background depending on how much light enters the camera. Fill the client from the front using a fill such as a reflector or flash. They can also slow down the shutter so you can use your existing backlight and fill it all in. You will be capturing customer details head-on. By adding a dreamy effect to your session, you can convey your expectations for your baby. This can be done in a studio or on location. Use bright robes for high-key lighting to increase the flood of ambient light, and the ‘s low-key lighting is perfect for highlighting baby bumps. Use a dark background and flash or external flashlight. You can also use the built-in flash to create discreet images. Position the client at a 45-degree angle to the camera to emphasize the ridges.
