THE BEST PHOTO EDITING APPS FOR ANDROID
On Android, there are three types of photo editors. Some, such as Adobe Lightroom CC, attempt to compete in terms of power with desktop photo editors. The second type is a lighter editor, such as Snapseed, that does the fundamentals and attempts to do the work for you. Finally, there are the social media filter photo editors, which don’t do much other than add some fun effects to photos. There are so many of each of those options that it makes one’s head spin, so we compiled a list of the best photo editors for Android. Please keep in mind that none of these have the power of Gimp, Lightroom, or Photoshop. A computer is still required for more serious photo editing.

Adobe apps
Price: Free / Up to $52.99 per month
Over the last few years, Adobe has released a slew of editing tools. Some of the best photo editing apps are included. Adobe Photoshop Express, Adobe Photoshop Mix, and Adobe Lightroom are among the options. Each one has a unique set of features to assist you with your tasks. You’ll be able to do things like remove red-eye and edit RAW files from your smartphone or DSLR camera. Adobe Lightroom, in particular, is frequently updated with new features. The only possible drawback is that some of them require an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription to use all of the features. Those who already use Adobe CC should just get these because they’re already included with a CC subscription.
AirBrush
Price: Free / $3.99 per month / $19.99 per year
AirBrush is an excellent tool for editing portrait photos. It has a lot of people-focused features like pimple removal, skin smoothing, red-eye removal, and a teeth and eye brightener. There is also a bokeh mode that can be used to transform any photo into one with a blurry background. Furthermore, the app includes a separate camera function that allows you to edit photos before taking them. As a result, you can frame your selfie in the camera and then apply edits before taking the final shot. Some of the more advanced features require a subscription, but you get a 7-day free trial to try it out before you pay anything.
Fotor Photo Editor
Price: Free with in-app purchases
Fotor has been on this list for a long time, and there are numerous blogs and lists that recommend Fotor as a must-have option. We both agree. It has a lot more editing tools than most and, for your convenience, includes the ability to enhance photos with a one-tap tool. Crop, rotate, brightness, contrast, saturation, exposure, vignetting, shadow, highlights, temperature, tint, RGB, and, if those don’t work, there are over 100 filters to choose from. It’s certainly worth a shot. The only drawback is that you must log in to use the app, and it is one of the more expensive photo editing apps.
Note: If you want to make some adjustments to the photo just let me know. I can do it for you at a very low cost. You can hire me to edit your photo.
InShot Photo Editor Pro
Price: Free / $7.99 per year
InShot Photo Editor Pro is a competent photo editor. This is a new style editor with a plethora of features such as filters, stickers, and other similar effects. All of these effects are housed in the app in a store-style layout, and you can pick and choose which ones you want to download. Of course, some of them are only available with the pro subscription, so plan accordingly. In any case, it does edit some photographs. You can retouch photos, cut things out of images, and it covers the basics like cropping and so on. As long as you use the app on a regular basis, we believe the $7.99 per year subscription is reasonable.
LightX Photo Editor
Price: Free / $2.99 per month / $14.99 per year / $40.00 once
LightX is an upcoming photo editor app. It was a smashing success on iOS. There are also a number of useful features. It includes a background changer, color splash effects, and a variety of slider tools such as color balance, levels, and curves. You can even combine multiple photos. Blurring, photo collages, shape manipulation, and stickers are also available. It is still in beta testing. That implies that there are bugs. However, it should eventually rank among the top five or so, photo editors.
Motionleap
Price: Free / $3.99 per month / $59.99 once
Motionleap (formerly Enlight Pixaloop) is a fun photography app with some cool features. With a few swipes and taps, it transforms static photos into GIF-style images. The effect is most effective when applied to water or clouds, but there are numerous other applications. Other features include the ability to add previously unseen elements and overlays that can enhance the ambiance of a photograph. This will not remove the red-eye from your photograph or crop it. The ability to add extra effects, on the other hand, is pretty cool. The only real drawback is that Enlight is prohibitively expensive, with a monthly subscription fee of $3.99 or a one-time fee of $59.99. We do, however, appreciate the fact that we can purchase the app in stores. However, we do appreciate that we can buy the app in full if we want to.
PhotoDirector Photo Editor
Price: Free / $2.99 per month / $17.99
PhotoDirector is a newer (relatively speaking) entrant into the Android photo editing space, and it’s quite good. This app, like Fotor, focuses on manual enhancements rather than filters, and you can use HSL sliders, RGB colour channels, white balance, and other tools to properly edit your photos. For more in-depth editing, there are also sliders for tone, brightness, darkness, exposure, and contrast. It’s more powerful than most and should be useful for those who don’t want to use filters.
Photo Effects Pro
Price: Free
Photo Effects Pro is unquestionably an editor for those who enjoy experimenting with filters, effects, stickers, and other similar tools. It includes over 40 filters and effects, as well as the ability to add text, stickers, and frames. The editing tools are actually quite simple. However, the developers recently redesigned the app, which resulted in the removal of a few beloved filters and features. Hopefully, the developers will restore them soon.
Photo Lab Picture Editor
Price: Free / $9.99
Photo Lab isn’t one of the most well-known photo editing apps. However, the app performs admirably. It has over 640 filters, frames, and effects to play with, making it one of the most extensive collections available to consumers. You can use this one to make montages, lightly edit photos, and stitch together effects to create some unique photos to share with your friends. There is a free version that includes advertisements and watermarks. Before purchasing the pro version, you can try the free version first.
Photo Mate R3
Price: Free trial / $7.49
Photo Mate R3 is the spiritual successor to Photo Mate R2, which was one of the list’s best photo editors. It’s still relatively new, so expect it to evolve and improve over time. For the time being, you’ll have access to a fairly robust set of editing tools, including all of the fundamentals. It also supports RAW files natively, which is ideal for photographers. The app also includes a Lens Collection, which allows you to correct lens flaws such as vignetting, distortion, and chromatic aberration. This is as professional as it gets on Android. The only disadvantage is that similar features are being added to other photo editors.
PicsArt
Price: Free / $5.99

Pixlr
Price: Free / $1.99
Pixlr by AutoDesk, also known as Pixlr Express, is a powerful photo editor that our readers have repeatedly recommended to us. It has one of the best one-touch enhance tools we’ve seen, as well as a plethora of other features and tools. There are filters, which are cleverly disguised as “overlays,” as well as cosmetic editing tools such as blemish removers and teeth whiteners. It’s one of the better photo editing apps, with something for everyone.
Snapseed
Price: Free
Snapseed is unquestionably one of the best photo editing apps. This was purchased by Google a few years ago. In this space, the app has evolved into a very powerful photo editor. It supports RAW photos, which will be very appealing to photographers. You can also fine-tune the image with a number of sliders and one-touch enhancement tools. If you’re into filters, there are some available as well. For how powerful it is, it is deceptively light and simple. The app is also one of the few free photo editor apps that does not contain ads or in-app purchases. This is the one we’d start with, followed by the Adobe apps, and then everything else. However, this app hasn’t been updated since 2018, so we’re not sure if it’s still in active development.
TouchRetouch
Price: $1.99
TouchRetouch is a one-of-a-kind photo editor app. It doesn’t do things like smooth your skin or remove redeye. Instead, it removes other elements from the image. You can remove things like unsightly power lines, small objects that you don’t want in your shot, and in some cases, even people. The app either works extremely well or does not work at all. We don’t recommend expecting miracles, but it does a good job most of the time. It is valid for a single $1.99 purchase, so make sure to test it before the refund period expires. You can also use it for free if you have Google Play Pass.
Vimage
Price: Free / $1.99 per month / $11.99 per year / $24.99 once
Vimage is a newer photo editing app that has some useful features. It’s very similar to the cinemagraph feature on the LG V40. You can take photos with no moving parts and then add moving parts to them. You can perform basic editing such as brightness, blur, crop, rotate, saturation, and so on. Then, to bring the photo to life, you can apply one of a variety of pre-made animations. I added steam to a food item and falling flower peDals to a selfie during our testing (don’t judge). This results in some one-of-a-kind animated photos that you don’t see every day. If you don’t mind the cost, the app has a couple of subscription options as well as a single purchase price.
Note: If you want to make some adjustments to the photo just let me know. I can do it for you at a very low cost. You can hire me to edit your photo.
